Pillar 3: Engaging in Programs that Help People Be Present and Truly Live Their Lives

Riley believed that every moment should be lived with purpose, presence and appreciation. The Foundation works to help individual and communities connect with what matters most.

This pillar focuses on initiatives that foster simple, intentional living with a focus on finding purpose and presence in the smallest moments, including:

  • “Get A Plant” Project: Riley took a small spider plant in a terracotta pot back to the Academy to brighten his dorm room. Taking care of this plant helped him find purpose during the difficult days of his illness. He would often say everyone should get a plant to help keep them company. The Foundation will sponsor events to get plants to those who need a little company in their lives.

  • Financial support for programs focused on enhancing lives and helping people find purpose in each day. This will include groups and agencies whose missions were important to Riley.

Through these efforts, the Foundation encourages people to live intentionally—to be fully present, embrace their journey, and experience life with clarity and gratitude.
